WE ARE HIRING IN AUSTRALIA FITTERS AND TURNERS MANUAL MACHINISTS WITH FITTING EXPERIENCE

A leading Australian company specialising in vehicle transmissions, drivelines, and powertrain components is urgently seeking experienced Fitters & Turners who can perform both precision machining and mechanical fitting work. Applicants with strong machining skills and hands-on gearbox assembly experience will be highly prioritised.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Set up and operate manual/conventional machines: lathes, milling machines, grinders
  • Machine, repair, and modify precision metal components to exact specifications
  • Strip, assess, rebuild, and assemble gearboxes, transmissions, and driveline components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and assembly diagrams
  • Perform high-accuracy measurements using micrometers, gauges, and precision tools
  • Fit shafts, bearings, gears, seals, and mechanical parts
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs or replacements
  • Maintain workshop tools, machines, and equipment
  • Ensure all work adheres to quality control, WHS, and company standards

Strict requirements:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of verifiable, hands-on experience as a Fitter & Turner or Manual Machinist
  • Proven experience in gearbox assembly or transmission repair
  • Must be fit to work and capable of performing workshop tasks
  • Must provide work photos/videos if available (advantage)
  • Preferably 28 years old and above
  • Trade qualification or vocational course in Machining, Fitting & Turning, Mechanical Engineering, or Metal Trades preferred
  • Applicants with at least 1 year of vocational/college education may be exempt from English tests (IELTS/PTE)
    Those without formal education may be required to take an English language test

Preferred Skill Areas:

 

  • Strong background in fitting and turning (manual machining)
  • Experience with automotive or industrial gearboxes, transmissions, or drivelines
  • Ability to work from technical drawings and engineering specifications
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and assembly/repair experience
